Redbud Trail
The Hike:
The Redbud trail to Cache Creek is a terrific hike. Some up, some down, but nothing too strenuous. So, what you lack in total exertion, you make up for in time to look at the scenery. The trail starts off in a broad meadow, and after crossing a drainage, begins to head up the ridge. The trail winds up to the top of the ridge, where you get a fabulous view of the creek and Brushy Sky High mountain. The trail along the ridge is gorgeous, as you walk through blue oak woodland on your way down to the creek. Once you reach Baton Flat, the trail crosses the creek. The trail then heads to the Wilson valley. Wilson Valley is a remote valley that is home to a sub-herd of Tule Elk. During certain times of the year during Elk calving, the trail had been closed after Cache CAlong the way, you will see Box Elder, Valley Oak, Arroyo and Sandbar Willow, California Grape, California Wild Rose, and Cottonwood.reek. However, starting in 2001, this will no longer be the case, and the trail will be open year-round.

How to Get There:
From Yolo County, Woodland and Davis, take Highway 16 up through the Capay Valley. Turn left at the Highway 16/Highway 20 intersection. Take Highway 20 into Lake County, until you cross over the bridge over the North Fork of Cache Creek. Look for the Cache Creek Mangement Area sign on the south side of the road. Turn into the parking area and park .
