Road 53 to Pierce Canyon Falls (Previously: Frog Pond Hike) – FULL

***This event is full! If you are interested in being added to the wait list, please contact Nate Lillge at nlillge@tuleyome.org.

The road to the Frog Pond Trail is closed and we are unable to cross Cache Creek due to the large amount of water. Therefore, we changed the location of the hike to Road 53. This hike is about 7 miles along a public access road. With all of the rain, the falls should be full! Dr. Geoff Benn will be our leader and will have microscopes to view various items.

To lead this hike, Tuleyome has again enlisted the help of Dr. Geoff Benn. Dr. Benn led a Craig Canyon-Thompson Canyon hike in November an discussed many topics including how various species of oaks survive droughts, galls, acorns and other aspects of plant life in the area. For this hike, he will bring microscopes for participants to view samples of the water in Frog Pond.

Dr. Benn earned his B.S. in crop sciences from the University of Illinois and his Ph.D. in Plant Biology from UC Davis where his research focused on understanding the mechanisms of how plants initiate rapid responses to damage.

Note: All participants agree to abide by the terms and conditions of Tuleyome’s waiver of liability which can be seen and downloaded HERE. All participants also understand that photographs will be taken at the event. If you do not wish to be photographed, you must tell the photographer and avoid the cameras’ line of sight.

A $5 donation to Tuleyome is requested, but is not required to participate.
