Cedar Roughs Wilderness Hike

Join John Woodbury, Napa County Regional Parks and Open Space General Manager, and Tuleyome staff on a hike to the top of Iron Mountain in Cedar Roughs Wilderness Area (approximately 6.5-miles round-trip, almost 1800 feet elevation gain). The Napa County Regional Park and Open Space District, Napa County Land Trust, Wildland Conservancy, and Tuleyome recently completed the purchase of the Smittle Creek land parcels proving an eastern access to the remote Cedar Roughs Wilderness.  The parcels are located across the Berryessa Knoxville Rd from the Bureau of Reclamation Smittle Creek Day Use Area. This “Sneak-Peak” of this new public acquisition will give participants an opportunity to experience and learn about the beauty and value of Cedar Roughs Wilderness, as well as reasons for the purchase, and how it will increase the enjoyment of the area. Hikers will meet at the Smittle Creek Day Use Area and hike along Berryessa Knoxville Rd to the access (approximately ¼ mile). Participants should wear comfortable hiking shoes/boots, long pants, long sleeves and are encouraged to dress in layers Please pack snacks and plenty of water.
