Cache Creek Wilderness Backpacking Trip – FULL!!!

Come explore the Cache Creek Wilderness with us on a moderate overnight backpack trip.  We’ll plan on 10 miles total for our trip (total elevation change of ~ 1,200 feet), with an optional extra loop for those who want to explore the area more.

On Day 1, Saturday 2/29/20, we’ll meet at the Judge Davis trailhead at 10:00am, then hike the approximate 5 miles to our campsite along Cache Creek.  The hike is very open and the views are fabulous, taking us into the heart of the Cache Creek Wilderness area!

Day 2, Sunday 3/1/20, we will pack up our gear and head back up the Judge Davis Trail. We’ll cut over the Cache Creek Ridge Trail, where, after hiking ~ 4 miles from our camp, you can select from 2 options: exit  to the trailhead in 1.4 miles, or extend the adventure with an additional 5 mile loop to Thompson Canyon, the “roadkill café”, ponds, and Dunfield Spring.  Either way you will have explored a remote and seldom-travelled part of the wilderness!

A note for Novice backpackers:  This is a fine trip if you are in reasonable condition but are new to backpacking!  There will be an optional pre-trip meeting Thursday Februray 13 at 7pm for those who want to discuss and get advice about gear, food, clothing etc.

Difficulty:  Moderate

Length of Trip:  10-15 miles round trip

Terrain and Elevation:  Hilly (some of which are steep); ~ 1,200 feet of elevation change.

No Dogs, serious rain cancels

Alternate dates in case rain cancels:  3/14-3/15
