Monumental Piñatas: “Any Bird” (Adults Only)

Tuleyome is partnering with the Yolo County Housing Authority to bring you four “Monumental Piñata” craft days for adults only (age 21 and up). You can come to just one class, or join us for all four! During each of the 4-1/2 hour class, participants will decorate a hand-made piñata form and take the piñatas home with them at the end of the class.  Today’s class is on decorating a simple bird form to look like any species of small bird you’d like! Choose a native species or create a species that springs from your own imagination.

Each piñata in the series represents a different animal or ecosystem in the Berryessa Snow Mountain National Monument region. All proceeds from ticket sales will go to support Tuleyome’s Certified California Naturalist program, which teaches members of the public to become certified as naturalists in California.

Tuleyome will supply the basic piñata forms, along with all of the tissue paper, construction paper, glue, poster board, and embellishments needed to complete your piñata.  Tuleyome will also supply general snacks and soft drinks at the classes, but you are welcome to bring along your own lunch if you’d like to. In keeping with the rules of the Yolo County Housing authority, no alcohol is allowed on the premises. And no smoking, please.

Cost: $45 per person per class (If you sign up for all four classes the cost is $160.00 for the set)

Location: Yolo County Housing Authority, Conference Room A-B), 147 W. Main Street, Woodland, CA 95695. Please park across the street in the shopping center parking lot.

Time: 9:30 am to 2:00 pm

Instructor: Mary K. Hanson, Certified California Naturalist, Director of Special Projects at Tuleyome. (Mary created all of the forms for the classes, and decorated the sample you see in the photograph; and she’s volunteering her time, so – Thanks, Mary!).
